Restorative Listening
Judith Mowry will be holding the next Gentrification Restorative Listening Session on Monday, Dec. 15 at Ainsworth United Church of Christ, 2941 NE Ainsworth St.
The Listening Sessions are designed for community members new and old to the community to come to talk and listen about how gentrification has changed the lives of people.
Mowry is also asking for feedback from former participants to comment about the value of the program. You can email her at [email protected].
Creating Loving Communities
As part two of an ongoing workshop and discussion series on "Harm Reduction and Intervention in Portland and Across the Pacific Northwest," is 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at In Other Words Women's Books and Resources, 8 NE Killingsworth St.

OAME Meetings
The Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs is hosting a Coffee & Issues Forum and the Business After Hours on Thursday, Dec. 11.
Coffee & Issues starts at 4 p.m. with the participation of Multnomah County Chair Ted Wheeler, with Business After Hours at 5 p.m. with music, food and a no-host bar.
There will be a raffle to benefit their Youth Program. People are encouraged to bring items to raffle.
On Friday, Dec. 12 the A&E Contractors meeting is at 7:30 a.m.
Self Defense Training
WomenStrength, a free self-defense program sponsored by the Portland Police Bureau, is recruiting women interested in becoming volunteer instructors.
WomenStrength's next annual training begins in March 2009. No experience is required to become an instructor; however, volunteer instructors are expected to complete a rigorous 100-hour training program.
Women of color and bilingual women are especially encouraged to apply.

Thrift Sale, Benefit
The Mt. Hood Community College Neighborhood Saints Thrift Store will hold a final closeout sale on Friday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
This is a great time to do some thrifty holiday shopping. The store has baby and children's clothes, adult clothes, household goods, books, jewelry, sporting goods and more.
The Neighborhood Saints Thrift Shop is located on the Gresham Campus of MHCC, adjacent to the College's Aquatics Center and tennis courts.
