This 9-Year-Old Used His Own Money To Buy Bikes for 20 Children This Christmas

Josh Cox interviewed by Fox 10 in Alabama (photo/Facebook)The holidays bring out the best in people. Last week 9-year-old Josh Cox from Mobile, Al, “The Young CEO” as his father calls him, used his own money to buy 20 bikes for children this Christmas.

Anthony Cox, Josh’s father, said his son is a young entrepreneur. Up until three months ago Josh, 8 at the time, had a party rental business, then started working for his father’s transportation company, Cox Transportation. Anthony told reporters that Josh oversees a truck and a driver.

“On paper we put him as the operations manager and so just teaching him different things about gross, net income, how to pay drivers as he stated, making sure drivers are taken care of and the fundamentals of business day in and day out,” Anthony told Fox 10.

Since Josh began making more money with the trucking business he wanted to pay it forward. His mother, Lavetter Jones Cox, took to social media to put out a call to action. 

Following the distribution of the bikes Lavetter everyone in a Facebook post for spreading the word and supporting Josh’s initiative. "I want to thank everyone for your kind words and thoughtfulness for Mr. Josh. We are grateful for Josh and his big heart."

His father said they’ve instilled three important principles in him that he’s taken to heart.

“Keep God first, hard work pays off, never give up,” Anthony said.

When asked why he decided to buy the bikes Josh told Fox10, “Some families are less fortunate and we just wanted to help out."
