After weeks of promoting their upcoming Open House, Genealogical Forum of Oregon (GFO) says they have made the difficult decision to postpone it until this fall.
The organization said in a press release that the "COVID-19 outbreak caused by the coronavirus in the Portland area has many people worried about gathering for public events. We share that concern."
"It does not make sense to host an event that people may be afraid to attend."
The 2020 Genealogy Open House was originally planned to run March 13-22 and included 40 free events. Events included an evening with special guest John Schmal on Mexican Ancestry, a Beginners Day, DNA Day, Software Day, and Irish Day.
GFO has not set the new fall dates yet. For more information, visit their website.
