PORTLAND, Ore. – On Friday, August 23, Travel Portland will officially open its new Visitor Center located at 815 SW Park Avenue in Director Park. The Visitor Center currently serves more than 50,000 visitors annually with a full-time staff of 3.5 supported by approximately 70 volunteers.

“We are thrilled to bring our Visitor Center to Director Park,” said Jeff Miller, CEO of Travel Portland. “The space is beautifully positioned and gives us the opportunity to build in interactive exhibits that reflect the city’s creative culture, the innovation bubbling through our streets, and the commitment of the tourism industry to celebrate the many artisans and makers who call Portland home.”

The new facility will feature a variety of interactive pop-ups highlighting Portland’s diverse makers, artisans and small-batch experiences. Future activations include a meet the makers showcase on design and apparel, tastings and collaborations with local food and beverage purveyors as well as visual and performing arts programming.

“The Director Park Visitor Center is far from the sterile tourism booth visitors are met by elsewhere,” continued Miller. “The Visitor Center will be an instrumental tool in ensuring visitors enjoy their time in our city and that tourism continues to be a positive economic driver for Portland.”
